Keep your Universal Credit journal updated

If you’re on Universal Credit, and claiming housing costs to pay your rent, make sure you let the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) know of changes to your rent.

Universal Credit - with you all the way

The DWP will have sent you a ‘To Do’ notification to your journal in the first week of April.

It’s important you complete the ‘To Do’ as soon as you can or you’ll miss out on money you are due.

If you don’t tell the DWP about your rent rise, your Universal Credit won’t be increased to cover your new rent and you could miss out on benefits you are due.

Check out our step-by-step guide on how to update your journal.

Remember, we are always here to help you. If you need support with your journal, contact your housing officer by phone or email.

Wheatley Group’s Kirsty Ward said: “It’s really important to update your Universal Credit journal to include changes to your rent so you don’t miss out on money you are due.

“We’re always here to help you with Universal Credit or any other benefits.”
