Get WinterReady for the cold weather
Monday, November 05, 2012
We’re helping vulnerable tenants cope with the cold weather.
Our WinterReady campaign means every tenant who is over 60 or disabled can get a free home check to make sure their home is prepared for the winter weather.
We’ll be contacting tenants who’ve been affected by bad weather in the past to make sure they’re protected this winter – to prevent small things becoming problems.
As part of WinterReady, eligible tenants will be visited by a plumber who will check the boiler, pipes and taps to make sure they’re working properly.
The plumber will also bleed the radiators and explain how to set the heating and turn off the water in case of an emergency.
It means a little extra protection against the effects of the bad weather for
tenants who need it.
GHA Chair Gordon Sloan said: “It’s important to prepare for bad weather, and
the home checks are a great way to get your heating and water pipes ready.”
