Academy welcomes 15,000th visitor

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

GHA's training academy has welcomed its 15,000th visitor through the doors.

The Academy, which is based at GHA’s headquarters in the city centre’s Trongate, opened in late 2010 for staff training and development.

And last year the Academy opened to tenants as part of GHA’s drive to open up more education and learning opportunities for people living in GHA communities.

The Academy has five training rooms, each equipped with computers and SMART boards, a quiet study area and a large conference room which holds up to 150 people.

The 15,000 visitors include GHA staff, tenants and delegates from other organisations who have booked training facilities.

Labour list MSP Drew Smith visited the Academy to see for himself how staff are being trained to deliver great services to tenants and factored homeowners.

The MSP met a group of GHA staff who are benefiting from the training opportunities in the Academy. Courses include Chartered Institute of Housing qualifications, repairs, letting processes and rent collection.

Tenants can sign up for a basic IT course and a housing qualification.

MSP Drew Smith said: “The GHA Academy is an impressive resource which is now available for use by tenants and community groups.

“I would encourage anyone interested in finding out more about the facilities and how they can make use of them to contact GHA.”
